Surprise package takes Cardiff by storm

Heading into the Cardiff GP of the 2015 P1 Superstock season all eyes were on last year’s championship winners GD Environmental Services following a strong showing in Hull, however it was the Typhoo team who stole the plaudits on Day 1, reports former championship racer Richard Carr.

Pole to flag

Having qualified fastest in the morning session, John Donnelly and Kevin Hunt in the Typhoo boat took full advantage of their pole to turn in two superb races on the Saturday of the Welsh Grand Prix.

Home team pairing of James Norvill and Charlie Parsons-Young continued their revival in the UK version of the championship with a first and second place in their heats. The Newport pairing were cheered on by a packed Welsh crowd on a rather blustery afternoon in Cardiff.

Flying Panther and Pertemps also enjoyed good days as they strived to keep ahead of the inform GD Environmental team.

The 52 points earned by Flying Panther on the opening day gave them a one point margin heading into the second day of racing ahead of near rivals Pertemps.

The same can’t be said for Arthur J Gallagher tough, who experienced a frustrating day and find themselves down in a lowly ninth place after missing a race marker.
