Superboat International announces two offshore races

In a positive move for offshore racing in 2016, longtime offshore powerboat racing promoter and sanctioning body Superboat International will put on two new events this year.

American racing

This two race addition takes the entire championship’s number of races to nine. There will be a six-race regular season for national points in addition to the annual three-race competition at the end of the season in Key West, to crown world champions.

The first addition to the calendar is the Mentor Super Boat Grand Prix, which will be held in Mentor, Ohio in late August. New York native, and 2015 Superboat World Champion, Billy Mauff, is spearheading the effort for the second new event. This event will be called the Port Jefferson Superboat Grand Prix. This even will be held in Port Jefferson, New York, with racing conducted on Long Island Sound. The dates are TBA.
