RYA announces annual Powerboat Racing Awards Ceremony

The 2015 Royal Yachting Association Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday 7 February, 2015 at the Novotel Hotel in Southampton, reports former British Powerboat Champion Richard Carr.

2014 successes celebrated at annual ceremony

The piece de resistance of the powerboat racing community will help to Southampton next month to celebrate the best of 2014.

Peters and May, Powerboat GP and Your Print Partner Ltd have been announced as key sponsors of the prestigious event, which is a night not to be missed.

RYA Powerboat Racing Manager Jeni Jelf urged those who wanted to attend the event, to get their tickets early.

“The Awards Ceremony is always a fantastic event. Many of our finest racers, along with friends and family, come to the event to toast the success of racers across all the powerboat racing disciplines, catch up with friends old and new and generally let their hair down and have a great time.

“This is always an extremely popular event so we would recommend you get your tickets early.”

52 awards up for grabs

The event, which starts at 6pm with a drinks reception before moving into the Normandie Suite at 7pm, will present 52 awards on the night presented across the circuit, offshore and jet bike disciples.

About Richard Carr

Richard Carr is one of the UK’s most experienced and successful powerboat racers, who has competed in the sport globally.

He has won numerous domestic and international honours: he became British Class 1 Champion in 1991; he was the winner of the coveted Needles Trophy and he also came second in the Cowes Torquay Cowes race in 1992. It was the year the race was controversially competed in the fog and it has been argued for many years that he actually won the race.

He is known in the sport for his aggressive racing character in rough seas and recently raced in the USA for Geico in 2011.
