Former offshore British champion powerboat racer Richard Carr will offer his views on the sport and provide an exclusive insight into his return to the sport later this year as a guest columnist on raceboatinternational.com.
Raceboatinternational.com is one of the biggest powerboat news websites in the UK, featuring news from across the globe from the many powerboat competitions and champions.
As part of his role as a guest contributor on the site, Richard will offer his views on the sport and its current hot topics.
Having raced globally and also owned a powerboat team, he will be able to provided analysis and insight into what goes on at race weekends.
Following a number of years away from the sport, Richard will return to the waters later this year to take part in the Venture World Cup Round Ireland race alongside his friend and rival Steve Curtis.
Steve is recognised as one of the greatest racers of all time and has a trophy cabinet to back it up. Like Richard, Steve started racing boats at a young age and the pair would often come up against one another.
They will now team up in an aluminium Cougar mono hull to take part in the race. Richard told raceboatinternational.com: “Neither Steve or I have won the greatest Offshore race in the World. We have got close, but that doesn’t put the Beaverbrook Trophy on our racing CV.
“Not only do we want to win, we want to win in a Cougar as a tribute to the late Clive Curtis, the co-founder of Cougar Marine”.
Richard will detail his return to the sport through his guest column in the lead up the race in the summer, which now doubt provide plenty of insight into the life of a powerboat racer.
