This week on Richard Carr Racing, the former British Champion reports on the announcement of the P1 2015 provisional race calendar.
2015 set to be a record breaker
During his long and successful career in power boating Richard Carr raced in the P1 series. He is delighted to see the championship go from strength, something he predicted back in 2008.
Speaking to ‘World of Powerboat’s he said: “I think the only way forward for Class 1 would be to become part of the P1 enterprise. P1 is being built on business lines as a brand rather than a club for wealthy individuals. When I’m asked if I think P1 will survive, my answer is always the same, yes, I think it will become bigger than ever.”
The International marine motorsport promoter Powerboat P1 announced over the weekend plans for a record race season for its Superstock powerboats and AquaX Jet Ski championships.
Its 80-race calendar will make P1 the world’s largest motorsport brand, it also sees Singapore added to the already established series in the UK and USA.
Competitor numbers on the rise
Following the addition of Singapore to the Calendar, P1’s promoters hope to an increased number of competitions and a rise in commercial partnerships.
As a result of the increased numbers, the series will run from April to October as P1 CEO James Dublin explained to p1superstock.co.uk: “We have an impressive list of host venues for 2015, with Scarborough coming on board to launch our UK calendar at the end of May and the Florida cities of Sanford and St. Petersburg set to stage their first P1 events.”
